Louis J. "Lou" Powers, 90, formerly of S.W. Philadelphia and Secane, passed away on February 15, 2012 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lafayette Hill. He was born April 4, 1921 in Philadelphia the son of the late Thomas and Ella (nee Kirk) Powers. Louis worked for 42 years at General Electric as a Production Specialist and was also a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific during WWII aboard the USS Chikaskia AO 54. He was also the treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 230 for 25 years and was an avid Eagles fan and season ticket holder since 1960. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah Teresa Powers. He is survived by his loving children Thomas Powers (Paulina), Raymond Powers (Debbie) and John Powers; his dear grandchildren Rachael (Danny), Ryan (Kristyn), Steven, Michael and Victoria; and also survived by his four great grandchildren Alexis, Danny, Ryan Jr. and Jadyn. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Monday from 9:30am until his Funeral Mass at 11am in the Church of St. Philip Neri, 437 W. Ridge Ave., Lafayette Hill, PA. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 1615 West Chester Pike Suite 102 West Chester, PA 19382. Arrangements in the care of the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, Norwood.
